2056 ETOILE FILANTE

'Étoile filante' means 'Shooting star' in French.

In 1956, Renault's Etoile Filante was a symbol of the spirit of challenge. It was a mobile that produced meaningful results on the Bonneville Salt Flats using the best aviation technology of its time. We also decide to imagine Etoile Filante 100 years later from that time. What kind of challenging spirit will appear in 2056?

It is predicted that in 2056, 100 years later, the era of space travel for the general public will come to us. So, is the 2056 Etoile Filate flies into space? No. I propose a ground-based training car that is needed in the era of space travel. Space travel will require a variety of training. This is because it has to withstand high G-FORCE and incredible speeds.

Renault in 2056 presents a vision for those who take on challenges. The Renault Space Center in Bonneville operates a spacecraft and also conducts training programs for the general public and scholarship students using training cars.

The design of the training machine inherited the design of the 1956 Etoile Filate. The design was inspired by the streamlined silhouette, long rear overhang, horizontal volume, and tail wing resembling an airplane.

The organic blue cocoon visible from the outside is a structure that surrounds the trainer. It has a canopy design inspired by the 1956 vehicle, which exposed the driver's helmet. In the interior, a multi-joint structure is connected to the seat for safe training.

Although it was a short internship of 2.5 months, I worked with a clay modeler to complete a 1:4 model.

This is a 1:4 clay model completed in 2018. Thanks to many professional colleagues, Anthony Lo, and superviser Raphael Linari, the presentation of 2056 Etoile Filante was successfully completed.
